After his first year it’s easy to dislike President Trump. His bad language, offensive talk about women, immigrants and foreign lands are crass and totally undiplomatic. His tweeting is unorthodox and immature, his bragging about being “A very stable genius” and “Like, really smart”, naive, almost juvenile, but while the Republicans may cringe over his style, they love his confrontational hurt of the left /political/ media/ elites, who have, for far too long, seemed immune to more civilised criticism and debate.
At the end of his first year we have to look past his obvious character flaws and the chaos that so often surrounds him, in order to see achievements which the left leaning media of course ignores – lower corporate and personal taxes, scrapping of fake climate and ‘man-made’ warming accords, tighter border control and falling numbers of illegal immigrants, fewer left wing judges in the Supreme Court, tougher on all forms of terror, action against rogue states and a growing economy.
Yes, he is withdrawing from being the worlds policeman, to concentrate on America, forcing Europe to take over more of that role and expand its military muscle, and compelling NATO to face up to burden sharing. His example, encouraged by Australia, has strengthened Europe’s anti-immigration attitudes and tightened their border control to some extent, while his recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital is pushing Europe closer to take on the leading role in the Middle East.
He has called out Iran for what it is, as a belligerent terrorist state and by his unstable and forceful rhetoric actually stirred the UN and China into stronger action against North Korea, bringing about its first talks with South Korea in years. He has been instrumental in defeating IS and has been willing to accept the advice of his Generals rather than insisting on his own extreme pre-election agenda.
All in all, the conservative Republicans must be quietly satisfied with the results, if not the style of Trump’s Presidency, recognising that as an American friend of mine said – “He is the man for the hour.” He also added, “He is singlehandedly shaping world events to where they need to be to bring on the environment prophesied for the end of the age.”
I think those of us who are aware of Bible prophecy about the End Time would have to agree – e.g. Daniel 11:40-42, ‘And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over. He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon. [Jordan] . He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.’
The king of the north is the coming dictator in Europe, called in the Bible the Beast. The king of the south is the ruler of an Islamic combine led by Iran.
