It had been a good home for 20 years, a 17th century farmhouse on the edge of Snowdonia in Wales, overlooking a beautiful valley with only a Buddhist monastery to see, maybe half a mile away. I shut the door on what we called the cottage, though actually it was the original 1408 farmhouse which I had rebuilt from a tumbledown ruin. Time to hand over to the new owners, so that the funds would arrive in our bank, but what I didn’t know then was that the next day Brexit would immediately drop the pound by such a large percentage that even before I could transfer the funds to Australia somewhere in the region of $100,000 would be removed.
That was Brexit, but it has taken a similar though delayed toll on Britain’s economy, as its effects have gradually worked through, and the pound remains in the doldrums.
Now, a study titled ‘EU exit analysis’ speaks of the 3 most plausible Brexit scenarios, all of them negative and threatening the Prime Minister Mrs. May’s grip on No. 10. But no one seems anxious to replace her, and who could blame them?
A poll last weekend found voters support having a final say on Brexit, with 58% favouring another vote once the terms of the deal are known, and some are suggesting that “moderate labour” and “sensible Tories” might join forces to get a second vote through. Even Brexit secretary David Davies is in favour of a second chance to vote on the result, to hopefully heal the split in the nation and even in Parliament.
While I’m an Australian now, my roots lie in Britain and I grieve for the nation because I know that its medium term future is bad. Ephraim, primarily Britain, but also secondarily including her Dominions, is addressed by the book of Hosea in the Bible about her conduct in the End Time. Notice what Hosea 5:13 says, ‘When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah his wound, then Ephraim went to Assyria, and sent to the great king. But he is not able to cure you or heal your wound.’
Ephraim will become sick economically, just as the Jews will stumble over their wound, the Arab/Israel 2 State non solution. The UK will end up turning to Assyria (Germany) for help, but their intervention will be anything but helpful, Isaiah 10:5-7, Woe to Assyria, the rod of my anger; the staff in their hands is my fury! Against a godless nation I send him, and against the people of my wrath I command him, to take spoil and seize plunder,and to tread them down like the mire of the streets. But he does not so intend, and his heart does not so think;
but it is in his heart to destroy, and to cut off nations not a few.’
Why will this happen? Hosea 5:4-5, ‘ Their deeds do not permit them to return to their God. For the spirit of whoredom is within them, and they know not the LORD. The pride of Israel testifies to his face, Israel and Ephraim shall stumble in his guilt; Judah also shall stumble with them.‘
Ephraim is proud of their abominations – abortions, gay pride marches, unmarried mothers, same sex marriage, false religions and atheism, etc. As Hosea says, “They have sown the wind and they shall reap the whirlwind.” I grieve because I know that few speak out against these evils and so very few will survive through the troubles ahead, to live on into the world tomorrow – the coming Kingdom of God, when God will once again choose Israel (Spiritual Israelites) to carry His way to the rest of the world.
